Note

On January 1, 2025, Oracle Linux 7 moved from Premier to Extended Support. Oracle Cloud customers using Oracle Linux are entitled to both Premier Support and Extended Support (when offered). For more information about the Extended Support program, see Oracle Linux Extended Support.

  • Includes all OS updates as of December 2020.
  • Introduces Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6 (UEK R6). For more information, see Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6 for Oracle Linux.
  • OS configured to use the standard Oracle Linux yum repositories. The Autonomous Linux repository (al7) is deprecated and all customers with existing Oracle Autonomous Linux instances are migrated to the new repositories automatically. For more information, see Linux Image Details.
  • Includes the following updated packages for the standard Oracle Linux yum repository configuration:
    • al-config-1.1-1.el7.noarch.rpm
    • ksplice-release-el7-1.0-6.el7.x86_64.rpm
    • oci-included-release-el7-1.0-2.el7.x86_64.rpm
    • oracle-softwarecollection-release-el7-1.0-3.el7.x86_64.rpm
    • oraclelinux-release-el7-1.0-13.1.el7.x86_64.rpm

Security and Compliance

Oracle Linux platform images are based on the most recent release of Oracle Linux and are updated monthly. If you need to confirm the status of certifications, such as FIPS 140-3 or Common Criteria, see the Oracle Security Evaluations page for the latest information. FIPS mode is not enabled in Oracle Linux platform images. To modify this setting, see the FIPS section of the Oracle Linux Security Guide under Oracle Linux documentation or contact support for assistance.
